Around 1.8 million pounds of carbomers, acrylates copolymers and acrylates C10-30 crosspolymers valued at $15 million were consumed in 2007 in hair care and skin care cosmetics according to a recently completed study by Eldib Engineering & Research, Inc., a Berkeley Heights, NJ consultancy.
The study included mass marketed styling gels, shampoos and conditioners in the hair care sector. The skin care usage included sunscreens, facial, hand and body products.
Information on usages was obtained by means of a proprietary methodology which examined multiple major brands in these categories and their individual consumptions.
