Beauty Business Boosts First Quarter at Avon

Avon Products, Inc. posted its first-quarter 2008 results showing a 14% rise in total revenue to $2.5 billion. Sales of beauty products jumped 17% and included increases in all categories: fragrance grew 20%, color was up 15%, personal care rose 15% and skin care increased 13%, according to Avon.

Net income in the first quarter of 2008 was $185 million, compared with $150 million in last year’s quarter.
