World Wide Packaging Inc. (WWP) is adding several new machines to expand capabilities within its plastic tube division. The expansion includes a new, state-of-the-art, five-layer coex extruder line for improved tube shape and greater consistency. Other improvements include the addition of two six-color, inline silk screening machines in response to the success of WWP’s original six-color silk screening machine, which is currently printing over 20 million tubes for a leading global cosmetic company. A second machine will be added by late 2008 and a third will be in place early in 2009.
Also on deck is the installation of three injection machines to produce tube closures in-house. This is in addition to seven injection machines that were installed in 2007.
“World Wide Packaging’s plastic tubes division has been growing by over 40% per year,” said Barry Freda, president of the company. “We needed to make an investment in additional machines to keep up with the growing demand for our products.”
