Church & Dwight Co., Inc. began construction of a new Arm & Hammer laundry detergent manufacturing facility and distribution center in Jackson Township, York County, PA.
The facility will occupy 1.1 million sq. ft. of building space on a 232-acre site and will feature a state-of-the-art design for energy use and waste reduction. The construction project is expected to be complete by the end of 2009.
The Company named the facility after Robert A. Davies III, 73, who served as chief executive officer of Church & Dwight from 1995 to 2004 and as chairman from 2001 to 2007.
"This is a great day for York County and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania," said Gov. Edward G. Rendell. "With a 162-year history, Church & Dwight is one of our country's oldest and most trusted companies. We are exceptionally proud to have brought this facility along with 300 new jobs to York County, and I want to personally thank the company and recognize everyone from the state, county and township who made it happen."
