Sunscreen Compositions Patented by Playtex



Patent No. U.S. 7,416,719 B2

Playtex Products has been awarded a U.S. patent for sunscreen that is comprised of least one sunscreen agent and at least one lauryl glucoside emulsifier which imparts an enhanced soft, silky feel to the composition.

Topical Nail Hardener


Patent No. US. 7,416,720 B2 

  A nail hardener that decreases brittleness and increases strength has been patented by Morteza Hajirahimy of Tehran, Iran. The topical aqueous composition consists of 20% glycerin, 17% water, 3% propylene glycol and 60% ethanol.

Massaging Bar Soap


Patent No. US. 7,417,015 B2

Colgate-Palmolive has patented a soap bar comprising at least two different portions that have a difference in solubility of at least about 1%, forming a ridged structure. The first portion is comprised of sodium soap that is about 80% tallow and 20% coco, glycerin, fragrance, stearic/coco fatty acid, sodium chloride, titanium dioxide, pentasodium pentatate, tetradibuty penterythrityl hydroxyhydrocinnamate, colorant and water. The second portion is comprised of sodium soap that is about 80% tallow and 20% coco, glycerin, fragrance, stearic/coco fatty acid, sodium chloride, sorbitol, pentasodium pentatate, tetradibuty penterythrityl hydroxyhydrocinnamate, colorant and water.

Enhanced Stain Removal

  Dial has patented a liquid laundry detergent composition. It is comprised of 0.5-4% linear alkyl benzene sulfonate surfactant; 1-10% of an alkyl ether sulfate surfactant; 0.5-5% of alcohol ethoxylate nonionic surfactant; 0.5-5% of an alkali metal silicate; 0.1-1% sodium polyacrylate homopolymer having molecular weight from about 2,000 to about 10,000; and the balance water. The weight ratio of the linear alkyl benzene sulfonate surfactant to alkyl ether sulfate surfactant is approximately 1:1.5-1:20.

Hollow Body For Rinsing Agent

Henkel of Germany has been awarded a U.S. patent for a hollow body with a compartment, containing a portion of a washing, cleaning or rinsing agent. The detergent portion is comprised of at least one detersive formulation and at least one dimensionally stable self-supporting hollow body forming an enclosure that exists prior to being filled with one or more detersive formulations, does not melt below 63°C, and wholly or partially surrounds the detersive formulation. It also comprises at least two compartments that are delimited from one another by walls, wherein the enclosure further comprises an unpressed material that disintegrates under laundering, cleaning, or washing conditions and that gives the hollow body dimensional stability and wherein only one of the at least two compartments comprises bleach, thereby controlling the activity of the bleach in the detersive formulation comprising the detergent portion.

Dish Machine Detergent


Patent No. US 7,415,983 B2 

Ecolab Inc. has patented a method of cleaning glassware in a dish machine using an acidic detergent. The acidic cleaning composition is comprised of a mineral acid and a surfactant. The cleaning composition is inserted into the dispenser of the dish machine. The wash solution, formed from the acidic cleaning composition and water, has a pH between 0-3.

Hair Dye


Patent No. US 7,416,566 B2

Kirin Cosmetics Co., Ltd., Korea, and Beauty Master Inc., Compton, CT, have been awarded a hair dye patent. The composition contains a first functional agent containing an oxidative dye and an alkalizing agent and a second functional agent containing an oxidizing agent. The first functional agent further contains arginine for increasing the dyeing rate in an amount of 1-5%, based on the weight of the first functional agent, and wherein the first functional agent contains 1-10% of aloe vera gel, 0.1-1% of ceramide and 0.3-1% of hair keratin, based on the weight of the first functional agent.

  A cosmetic composition for keratinous substrates with triarylmethane compounds has been patented by L'Oréal, Paris. It contains at least one triarylmethane dye molecule chosen from polymeric triarylmethane dye molecules, copolymeric triarylmethane dye molecules, oligomeric triarylmethane dye molecules, and mixtures thereof; at least one film forming agent; and at least one solvent. The cosmetic composition is put in contact with the keratinous substrate to form a treated keratinous substrate; and the treated keratinous substrate is irradiated with a flash of light. l
