GERMANY: Symrise sponsored the international “Six Scents” project in which six perfumers worked with fashion designers to create exclusive fragrances. The scents will be sold in the world’s most prestigious boutiques and department stores, with proceeds earmarked for international institutes and initiatives in the fight against AIDS.
Symrise worked with UNAids, Designers Against Aids, Metaproject and Seven New York on the project. Six of the company’s perfumers—Joachim Correll, Lucas Sieuzac, Phillipe Paparella-Paris, Emilie Coppermann, Philippe Roques and Mark Buxton—worked with Alexandre Herchcovitch (São Paulo), Bernhard Willhelm (Paris), Cosmic Wonder Light Source (Tokyo), Gareth Pugh (London), Jeremy Scott (Los Angeles) and Preen (London).
Six Scents: Series One was presented to the public for the first time on Nov. 6 in New York; events will follow in Paris, Tokyo and São Paulo. Only 2000 units will be made available, with proceeds slated to benefit the International AIDS Awareness Education Center, which will open in Antwerp, Belgium, in December.
“Six Scents is a wonderful project for us. It’s a unique opportunity to use our creative talents for a good cause. The worlds of fashion and fragrance are very closely linked...We are really happy about being able to offer them this platform and, at the same time, help renew public awareness of AIDS,” said Achim Daub, global president scent and care, Symrise.
