Parfums Givenchy Celebrates a Decade of Degennes

In celebration of 10 years as artistic director of Givenchy Le Makeup, Nicolas Degennes was honored with an exhibition at Paris’s Palais de Tokyo on April 9. In attendance at the event—which featured collections Mr. Degennes has created during the past 10 years as well as his personal works of art—were Liv Tyler, the face of Parfums Givenchy, and Alain Lorenzo, president and chief executive officer.

Mr. Lorenzo describes Mr. Degennes as “an anxious, avant-garde artist.”

Mr. Degennes latest collection for Autumn/Winter 2009, Les Poetiques, hits counters in the U.S. in August.








Mary Kay Plants 20,000 Trees in Bitterroot



Mary Kay Inc. celebrated 20 years of recycling efforts during Earth Month in April by completing a two-day reforestation project in a U.S. national forest. Through its Pink Doing Green Compact Recycling program, Mary Kayexceeded its 2008-2009 collection goal of 200,000 old compacts, succeeding in its pledge to add 200,000 trees to Bitterroot National Forest, which is the largest expanse of wilderness in the U.S.

Mary Kay partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation on the reforestation project, which fulfills the forest’s entire planting need for 2009. By adding to the tree canopy in Bitterroot—estimated 1.6 million acres of forest land across the southern Montana-Idaho border—Mary Kay will help provide homes for countless species of wildlife, clean the air and prevent soil erosion.

“Sustaining the environment for future generations is an active priority for Mary Kay that we take very seriously,” said Mary Kay chief scientific officer Dr. Beth Lange. “We also recognize the importance of working with communities at the local level and the power of engaging our global network of independent beauty consultants. We have already seen success and impact with our Compact Recycling Program on a national scale.”
