For years, vitamins C and E were the dominant antioxidants in the personal care category. But according to dermatologist Neil S. Sadick, the next generation of antioxidants include yquem extract, coffee berry and acai berry.
Speaking at Cosmeceuticals Conference in New York yesterday, Dr. Sadick noted that yquem extractwas more effective than vitamins C and E in reducing oxidative stress.
Meanwhile, coffee berry's antioxidant content is two times greater than green tea. Finally, acai berry can already be found in several skin care products on the market. The ingredient is said to contain a high amount of anthocyanins, a class of flavonoids.
