Think acne ends with graduation? Think again! According to a recent survey conducted by Sea Breeze, 51% of women admitted to suffering more breakouts post-adolescence than during. While the dermatologist jury is still out on whether stress really does cause acne, many grown women are believers. In fact, according to the Sea Breeze survey, 84% of women believe that stress directly correlates to breakouts. One thing is for sure, excessive daily stress adversely affects one’s immune system, and being the largest organ, the skin is likely a victim to the damage stress causes.
Dr. Uma Tripathi, vice president of research and development for Idelle Labs, agrees that the skin is an indicator of the body’s overall health.“While stress affects everyone differently due to varying tolerance levels, it always has a large impact on the body. This impact is typically seen first on the skin, since it’s the largest organ of the body,” says Dr. Tripathi. “Whether you are feeling good or bad, your skin will be the first to give it away.”Fight acne (and balance stress!) by eating a balanced diet, getting enough sleep, engaging in daily exercise and using gentle skincare products (there is no need to further aggravate the skin!).
Sea Breeze Actives astringents combine botanical clarifiers like camphor, clove and eucalyptus plus salicylic acid to rid the skin of dirt and excess oil without leaving it dry. The line includes three formulas:Clear-Pore Astringent, an oil control formula for all skin types with 2% Salicylic Acid; Deep-Clean Astringent, a lasting oil-control formula for normal to oily skin with 1% Salicylic Acidand Fresh-Clean Astringent for Sensitive Skin is a gentle formula that deep cleans and refreshes skin, removing trapped oil, dirt and makeup that soap leaves behind. The products are available in the mass market.
