Garnier Nutritioniste Signs Bridget Moynahan
Garnier Nutritioniste has tapped Bridget Moynahan as its latest spokesmodel. The model-turned-actress will appear in print and TV campaigns for the brand’s top-selling Ultra-Lift skin

Beauty Via HSN
HSN will launch an exclusive new line of beauty products with Purple Lab. The collection will consist of six new products which will debut on Feb. 18 with four prime-time shows featuring Purple Lab founder Karen Robinovitz.
Purple Lab debuted in May 2009 with its first beauty product, Huge Lips Skinny Hips, a lip plumping gloss enriched with hoodia. The exclusive collection of products for HSN will include the lip plumping gloss as well as Lashionista Modelista, a protein-packed mascara/felt tip liquid liner duo with lash conditioner; Silk Sheets foundation; Luvah, a compact with lip stain and gloss; Luxury Squared highlighter and concealer; and Cheek Implants, a cream blush with collagen.
Coinciding with the partnership, Purple Lab and HSN have kicked-off an online model contest. A first for the brand, HSN says this competition has been designed to reach a new younger consumer heavily tapped into the social media stratosphere.
Julia Roberts for Lancôme
Julia Roberts has been named the new face of cosmetics firm Lancôme. “The Pretty Woman” star will be the 2010“ambassadress” for the company. When announcing the news in December, Lancome president Youcef Nabi said, “By her remarkable personality and career, Julia Roberts is an emblematic woman of her time. Her exceptional talent, her radiance and her strong commitments, perfectly echo Lancome’s values.”
A New Site to Manage Infection

Aveda has launched its mobile commerce platform—m.aveda.com—which provides guests with access to Aveda.com from any web-enabled mobile device. Consumers can browse for and purchase Aveda products, search for an Aveda salon, retail store or spa location nationwide, and access expert tips showcasing the latest styles and trends in hair care, according to the company, which is owned by Estée Lauder.It is the first Lauder brand to offer a mobile e-commerce site.
“At Aveda we are passionate about connecting with our guests, so it was a natural progression to make the brand accessible to consumers anywhere, anytime via their mobile device,” said Suzanne Dawson, vice president, global marketing for Aveda. “We know that about 58 million people access the web via their mobile device each day, so the mobile e-commerce site will help create a seamless multi-channel customer experience for our guests.”
Divas Unite to Combat Domestic Violence
Hair care brand Diva by Cindy held its first annual Donate to a Diva campaign to benefit victims of domestic violence. The goal of the initiative was to increase awareness of domestic abuse and partner with businesses and volunteers to make and donate gift bags to women in nine shelters located in Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia.
The company prepared 250 Diva gift bags for ladies who have had the courage to walk away from their abusive situations, according to Cindy Tawiah, founder of Diva By Cindy, which is based in Owings Mills, MD. The bag also included candles donated Brown Sugar, nail polish and foundation from Maybelline, color cosmetics from Artistry, sleep caps by Royal Sleep Cap Co., facial serum from Jaime Earl and luxury soaps from Le Cherchie Midi.

Amway App for Distributors on the Go
Amway has launched an application for the iPhone and iPod Touch that it says puts almost all the tools an Amway distributor might need right in the palm of her hand. The free download allows Amway distributors to access a complete product catalog, show customers videos and other product information, and place orders—with or without an Internet connection.
While some direct sellers offer a PDF of a catalog or other static content for iPhone users, Amway said its application is native on the device, offering 24/7 access regardless of connectivity. Amway distributors can register new customers and place orders or register new customers wherever they are and whenever the customer is ready to place an order.
In addition to the resident app on the iPhone, the Amway Store at iTunes offers free downloads of videos and podcasts designed to help Amway distributors sell products to their customers. The Amway app is currently available to Amway Global distributors in the U.S. and Canada. The direct seller will offer the application in Japan and Australia in 2010 and other markets in 2011.
A Cyber Monday Surge for Drugstore.com
Drugstore.com, Inc., an online retail operation based in Bellevue, WA, announced that Cyber Monday (Nov. 30, 2009) was its best day ever as customer orders were the highest in company history. Both of the company’s web-based retailer sites—drugstore.com and Beauty.com—featured more special offers than in previous years and their largest gift selection yet, the firm said.
Among the day’s best selling beauty products were the RapidLash Eyelash Renewal System, Beauty by Borghese Holiday Gift Set and DuWop Twilight Lip Venom. In the small electronics sector, power toothbrushes from Philips Sonicare and Oral-B were among the top products sold, the company said.
Gibson Signs on with Murad
Murad, Inc. has added singer/songwriter Deborah Gibson to its roster of Rusergence spokeswomen. The pop icon will be featured in Murad’s new infomercial, which will launch in early 2010. The new spot will include a song from Gibson’s forthcoming album. In other news, first- and business-class customers flying on United Airlines will find Murad skin care products in their amenity kits during trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific flights, as well as those to and from Brazil and Argentina.
