BASF Taps Beckmann To Lead Care Chemicals, Formulators

From 1997-1999, Beckmann was deputy plant manager in the dispersions and pigments division. After that, he was joined BASF Petronas Chemicals in Malaysia for four years as general manager. Another delegation followed in July 2003, this time to BASF -YPC Chemicals in China, where he was responsible for marketing and sales. In 2006, Beckmann returned to Ludwigshafenwhere he was responsible for a portion of global raw materials procurement.

Kolmar: tapped Colleen Jennings as customer relations manager. She has spent seven years of her career at Kolmar holding positions within the sales organization. Jennings, who previously worked for Kolmar, has held positions at Intercos LLP and Bentley Laboratories.
Jeff Swaine will fill the position of director of quality assurance at the Port Jervis facility. He has been employed by Kolmar for more than 17 years and has had previous responsibilities in R&D, process engineering, quality assurance and manufacturing. In this position, he will be responsible for incoming inspection, the microbiology and analytical laboratories, quality systems and regulatory.
ViaBeauté: hired Rachel Hatlestad as its newest beauté ambassador. She will be responsible for establishing new business opportunities with elite salons and spas throughout the greater San Francisco Bay area. Hatlestad honed her skills working in sales and marketing positions for Wella, Sebastian, Bumble and Bumble, Goldwell and Pierre Fabre.
L’Occitane: tapped Leela Petrakis as the new managing director for its U.S. branch. She has more than 15 years of industry experience at companies such as Johnson & Johnson/Neutrogena, Clairol, Avon, Revlon and L’Oréal, holding positions of increasing responsibility in marketing and general management for the U.S. and global markets. Petrakis also serves on the board of directors for the Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW).

A member of the L’Oréal family since 2002, she was instrumental in the launch of Luocolor, the restage of Majirel and effectively managed the entire L’Oréal Professional color portfolio. In October 2005, she moved to Matrix as director of marketing where she was responsible for the hair color and texture business.
Essential Ingredients: tapped Cathy Piterski as sales representative in the northeast region. She has extensive experience in R&D in both the household and personal care industries. Piterski started her career at Lehn & Fink (now Reckitt Benckiser) and spent 10 years in formulation for household products such as carpet and all-purpose cleaners. She left Reckitt in 1999 to work at Playtex where she spent another 10 years in formulation and management for personal care products such as baby wipes.

Evonik: promoted Dr. Dietmar Moll, previously head of the skin care product line of Evonik Stockhausen GmbH, to take charge of the Care Specialties business line of Evonik. After completing his studies in nutritional and food sciences, Moll embarked on his professional career in 1986 as a technical advisor for pesticide customer service at the Detia Group. In 1989, he moved to the research and application technology unit of the enzymes division at Evonik Röhm GmbH in Darmstadt. Here, he subsequently served as head of product management for enzyme technology, head of marketing and sales for pharma polymers, and eventually head of the pharma polymers business unit. From 2001 to Sept. 2006, he directed the pharma polymers business line within the specialty acrylics business unit, before being responsible for the skin care product line.
Pilot Chemical: appointed Pamela R. Butcher as president and chief operating officer. Reporting to chairman and chief executive officer Paul Morrisroe, she has responsibility for the supervision and direction of all functions and operations in Pilot. Butcher comes to Pilot after a 29-year career with The Dow Chemical Company, where she held a range of executive leadership positions.
Nu Skin Enterprises: tapped Stuart Kim, Ph.D., a professor at Stanford University, as its newest member of the Nu Skin Anti-Aging Scientific Advisory Board. According to the company, Dr. Kim will provide a molecular analysis of aging science.
Kim received bachelors’ degrees in chemistry and philosophy from Dartmouth College in 1979. He then moved to biology at Caltech and received a doctorate in 1984. He spent five years as a post-doctoral fellow at MIT and is currently a professor in the departments of Developmental Biology and Genetics at Stanford University, as well as a faculty affiliate to the Stanford Center on Longevity.
Procter & Gamble (P&G): named Deborah Platt Majoras, senior vice president and general counsel, as chief legal officer and secretary. She succeeds Steven W. Jemison, who will retire effective Sept. 30, 2010 after more than 29 years of service.Until his retirement, Jemison will serve as officer on special assignment, reporting to Bob McDonald, chairman of the Board, president and chief executive officer of the company.
