April 26, 2010

Longtime member of SCC.

Charles "Charlie" Fox, personal care industry veteran died on April 24. He was 90.

At the time of his death, Fox was an independent consultant to the cosmetics and personal care industry. Prior to that,he served as director of product development for the personal products division of Warner-Lambert Company.

"Charlie Fox was my boss at Warner-Lambert and he was inspiringly brilliant," recalled Happi columnist Navin Geria, VP-R&D, SpaDermaceuticals. "I feel very lucky to have been able to cross paths with him so many times during his extraordinary journey. Once when I asked about his views on leadership, he said it was all about self-awareness, recognizing your failings and developing modesty, humility and humanity. I am sure every one who knew him would agree that these were the values he lived by each and every day.

"He was insightful, fact-based, logical and brief, which made his writings very effective in terms of simplifying the complex," added Geria. "His passing away is a huge loss to the entire cosmetic industry."

During his career, Fox won many awards. He is a past recipient of the Cosmetic Industry Buyers and Suppliers Award and the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) Medal Award. Fox also served as president of the SCC.
