Composite Powder Patented by Shiseido
U.S. Patent No. 7,682,604 B2; Shiseido Co., Ltd., Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan, has patented a composite powder that is comprised of a flaky substrate powder, seed particles selected from the group consisting of titanium oxide, zinc oxide, alumina, aluminum hydroxide, silica, iron oxide; and barium sulfate particles or zinc oxide particles. The seed particles act as nuclei on the surface of the flaky substrate powder and the barium sulfate particles or the zinc oxide particles adhere to the flaky substrate powder particles through the seed particles. The coverage with barium sulfate particles is 10-70% with respect to the surface area of said substrate powder or the coverage with zinc oxide particles is 40-90% with respect to the surface area of said substrate powder.
L’Oréal Patents Hair Bleach With Inert Particles
U.S. Patent No. 7,682,402 B2; L'Oréal, S.A., Paris, has patented an aqueous composition for bleaching keratin fibers. It is comprised of hydrogen peroxide and at least 20% by volume of inert particles chosen from particles of titanium oxides, zinc oxides, carbonates, silicates, sulfides, polyamides, polyesters, polystyrenes, polyurethanes, polycyanoacrylates, polyethylenes, polymethyl methacrylates, polypropylenes, polycarbonates, Teflon, silicone elastomers, waxes and complex synthetic compounds. The composition has a viscosity of less than 2×103 poises at 25°C. The size of the inert particles ranges from5nm to 500μm.
Ecolab Patents Method To Treat Laundry
U.S. Patent No. 7,682,403 B2; Ecolab Inc., St. Paul, MN, has patented a method for treating laundry. The method entails washing the laundry with a detergent solution at an alkaline pH in an industrial laundry washing machine to remove soil; draining at least a portion of the detergent from the laundry washing machine; applying a laundry treatment composition comprising a bleaching/antimicrobial agent selected from the group consisting of a halogen bleach, an oxygen bleach, and mixtures thereof, to the laundry in an industrial laundry washing machine at a pH of approximately 2-4 for 3-10 minutes, and thereafter at a pH of approximately 8-11 for about 3-10 minutes; wherein a pH adjusting agent is added to increase the pH. The laundry treatment composition is then drained from the laundry.
Alberto Culver Patents Long-Lasting Moisturizer
U.S. Patent No. 7,691,399 B2; Alberto Culver Company, Melrose Park, IL, has been awarded a U.S. patent for a cosmetic composition that contains olive oil polyethylene glycol (PEG) ester, lysine hydroxy-propyltrimonium chloride, sodium pyroglutamate (sodium PCA) cetearyl glucoside, and water. The weight ratio of the olive oil PEG ester to the lysine hydroxy-propyltrimonium chloride in the composition is from 5000:1 to 7000:1.
Skin Disinfectant Foam with Alcohol
U.S. Patent No. 7,683,018 B2; Deb Worldwide Healthcare Inc., Brantford, Canada, has been awarded a U.S. patent for a method of forming a skin disinfecting foam containing alcohol. It entails the following steps: activating a dispenser pump of an unpressurized dispenser to combine an alcohol-fluorosurfactant mixture with air to form and dispense a skin disinfecting foam containing alcohol, wherein the alcohol-fluorosurfactant mixture comprises an alcohol C1-4, or mixtures thereof, present in an amount greater than or equal to 60% by weight of the total composition, a physiologically acceptable effective anionic phosphate fluorosurfactant for foaming present in an amount of at least 0.001% by weight percent of the total composition, and water present in an amount to balance the total composition to 100% by weight.
Artisan Crafted Soap Bar
U.S. Patent No. 7,683,019 B2; Conopco, Inc., Englewood Cliffs, NJ, has patented a process for the manufacture of a soap bar comprising an artisan crafted appearance. The process entails injecting a thermoplastic mass into an extruded soap mass comprised of 25-95% surfactant undergoing substantially plug flow, said injection being directed parallel with the flow of the extruded soap so as to
The injected thermoplastic mass and the extruded soap mass are thermoplastic over a temperature range of 30-50°C, and the injected thermoplastic mass has at least some difference in chemical composition from the extruded soap mass. The composite mass is then cut into billets.
The billet is stamped with a set of dies which when joined define a mold, wherein the stamping is in a direction perpendicular to the flow of the extruded soap so as to form a stamped bar having a top and bottom stamped surface bounded by a parting line or edge band and a horizontal plane intersecting the parting line or edge band. The thickness of the billet is sufficiently larger than the thickness of the mold such that the cylinder comprised of the thermoplastic mass spreads out in a direction orthogonal to the direction of stamping so as to form an inner vein located between the top and bottom stamped faces of the bar.
