Emulsense (Proposed INCI: Brassicyl isoleucinate esylate (and) brassica alcohol) is a patent-pending, natural cationic agent that is suitable for hair conditioning and skin care. According to Inolex (Booth No. 1125), it is an ideal ingredient for the natural products marketplace. It is derived solely from fermentation and plant materials, using sustainable, green chemistry principles. Its composition is 65% active (natural cationic) and 35% fatty alcohol.
For hair conditioners, Emulsense is the primary active anti-static agent, enabling both excellent performance and all-natural claims, according to Inolex. In skin care products, it is an emulsifier with a new sensory profile, providing a silky initial feel and a powdery after-feel.
Use level is typically 4.0-6.5%. Often, additional fatty alcohol is added to enhance structure, and glycerin is added to enhance stability. Emulsense is incompatible with certain gums, proteins and mineral oils.
