The upcoming Sustainable Cosmetics Summit will take place May 12-14 at the New York Marriott Downtown, New York, NY. Practical approaches to reduce the environmental and social impacts of beauty products will be explored by organizations at the cutting edge of sustainability initiatives. More beauty companies are increasingly looking at sustainability, however, there is some debate on what approaches are practical and provide measurable results. The opening session of the summit highlights some of the pioneering sustainability initiatives undertaken by cosmetic companies and ingredient firms.
Charles Bennett, vice president of Aveda, is going to highlight the environmental & social impacts of beauty products during his presentation on Sustainability Realities for the Beauty Industry and share some of its pioneering initiatives. Afterwards, Jenny Rushmore, global sustainablity director at Procter & Gamble (beauty & grooming) will share its experiences in meeting the rising challege of the Triple Bottom Line.
During this session P&G will present its vision and goals for sustainability. What measures have been introduced, and what are the expected results in 2011?
