For years, DSM has been a well-known supplier to the sun care and nutritional products industries. But in recent years, the company has become a force in skin care and hair care, too, and that’s evident at Stand No. Q16 at In-Cosmetics.
“We have a small, but highly-focused portfolio that is on the cutting edge of science,” observed Jörg Richter, senior director, global marketing, personal care, DSM. “We retain the agility of a small company, but with the resources of a large company.”
This year, DSM is rolling out Tilamar Fix A140 polymer, which enables formulators to create rapid drying hairsprays with low tack—even in a formulation with increased water content. That makes Tilamar Fix A140 an excellent addition to 55% VOC aerosols and non-aerosols. The polymer’s hold properties have been proven in professional hairdresser tests, in which it outperformed leading market benchmarks.
According to DSM, dry skin remains the primary unmet need in skin care. During In-Cosmetics, the company is highlighting new data that shows how Pentavitin, DSM’s 100% natural, plant-derived ingredient, generates a moisture reservoir that lasts for at least 72 hours, to strengthen the epithelial barrier and create a sustainable soft and smooth skin. After two weeks, Pentavitin improves skin smoothness and softness by more than 50% and reduced flakiness and itchiness by more than 50%.
Finally, in sun care, DSM has developed new concepts for its well-known Parsol UV filter. At this year’s In-Focus pavilion, the company will release new data that shows how Parsol addresses the invisible and hidden changes of sub-erythemal UV exposure in the skin.
