DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products Company’s Zemea propanediol has been independently reviewed by Quality Assurance International (QAI) and certified as 100% derived natural ingredient by Natrue.
Zemea is a natural, 100% biobased ingredient made from corn sugar through fermentation and developed for use in the cosmetics and personal care market.
It is a high performance, environmentally sustainable alternative to petroleum-based glycols and glycerin, where the product’s lack of skin irritation, improved moisturization and excellent aesthetic properties are benefits, according to the company.
Zemea also is approved as a natural ingredient by Ecocert, and the Natural Products Association, certified 100% biobased by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and has both Kosher and Halal certifications.
“We are very excited to receive Natrue certification of Zemea, which is seeing widespread adoption in the global personal care market,” said Dave Wood, product director at DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products.
“Companies who are seeking Natrue certification for their natural or organic products now have a certified glycol alternative to add to their formulator’s toolbox.”
