Rutgers Skin Research Center Celebrates Year Anniversary

June 5, 2012

• On April 19, Center for Dermal Research (CDR) hosted its first year anniversary event and champagne reception—Skin Care: Developments on the Horizon—at its headquarters in the LifeSciences building in Piscataway, NJ on the Rutgers Busch campus.

After just one year of operation, the CDR at the New Jersey Center for Biomaterials (NJCBM) has become the premier dermatopharmaceutics research center in New Jersey. It has 20 prominent members from the skin care industry, including Avon, Johnson & Johnson and Lonza, as well as individual members.

“New Jersey is the place to be for our industry,” said director Bozena Michniak-Kohn, PhD, Professor of Pharmaceutics at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy and CDR founder.“We hope to continue to attract the best talent to our Center and to grow, as the science develops. The last decade has been explosive for skin care research.”

In other news, the Rutgers University Student Employment Office selected Dr. Michniak-Kohn as the 2012 Supervisor of the Year for National Student Employment Week.

“I’m honored to accept this award,” said Dr. Michniak-Kohn. “Students are the reason why we are all here and I enjoy working with them. “
