“Salonistas”—women who have had two or more manicures in the past six months—are helping fuel the market. According to Experian Simmons data cited in the report, an improving economic picture has resulted in a sharp uptick in the number of women obtaining frequent professional nail care services. In 2011, the number of women having two or more manicures in a six-month period increased from 16.3 million to 18.1 million, or 11.3%.
