Symposium on Sun Exposure Planned for Oct. 10

• The NYSCC will host an international symposium on “Sun Exposure: Implications and Protection of Skin” on Oct. 10 at the Pleasantdale Château in West Orange, NJ.
The event begins at 8am with registration and light breakfast followed by opening remarks from Laura A. Spaulding of Energizer Personal Care.
Presentations will include “Epidermis as a Shield from Environmental Stressors and Oxidative Stress,” by Giuseppe Valacchi, Ph.D. (University of Ferrara, Italy); “The Role of Sun Photo-Damage in Skin Aging and Compromised Immune Responses,” by Michael S. Roberts, Ph.D. (University of Southern Australia); “Inflammatory Pathways involved in UVR-Induced Skin Disorders and Aging: Targeting Skin Inflammation with Natural Anti-Inflammatories,” by Bryan Fuller, Ph.D. (DermaMedics, LLC, USA); “The Development & Use of the Immune Balance Rating (IBR) in Formulating Sunscreen Products,” by Terrence J. Piva, Ph.D. (RMIT University, Australia); “Sunscreens: Global Regulatory vs. Innovation,” by Curtis Cole, Ph.D. (Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products); “Glocal” Strategies for Sun Care Innovation,” by Helene Hine (Croda Europe Ltd.); and “What’s Under the Sun from Down Under?” by Wen Schroeder (Seki Cosmeticals, LLC).
