• GERMANY: Symrise AG has joined the United Nations Global Compact, the largest voluntary corporate responsibility initiative in the world. In doing so, the company commits itself to the goals of the compact: uniting entrepreneurial activity with societal and environmental concerns.
By signing the compact, companies and organizations, commit to 10 universally-accepted basic principles of sustainable and ethical economic activity, such as a ban on child labor, fighting corruption, or the promotion of environmental activities. Thus, the Global Compact sets standards for human rights, labor rights, environmental protection and anti-corruption measures.
To date, more than 8,000 companies have signed the accord, including many of Symrise’s customers.
“We share the principles of the Global Compact and have long lived by them at Symrise with our sustainability vision and strategy. Together with other companies, we wish to do our part in making globalization socially and ecologically sustainable,” said Dr. Heinz-Jürgen Bertram, CEO of Symrise AG. “For us, worldwide economic success goes hand in hand with societal and environmental responsibility. We are convinced that sustainability supports our growth ambitions and look forward to actively participating in the Global Compact network.”
