• US Patent No. 8,246,969 B2; Skinmedica has patented a topical pharmaceutical or cosmetic composition that comprises a topical carrier selected from the group consisting of a lotion, a gel, an ointment, a paste, a suspension and a cream and an effective skin inflammation-alleviating amount of a benzaldehyde selected from the group consisting of 2-ethoxybenzaldehyde, 4-ethoxybenzaldehyde, 4-propoxybenzaldehyde, 4-butoxybenzaldehyde, 4-pentyloxybenzaldehyde, 4-hexyloxybenzaldehyde and 4-allyloxybenzaldehyde. The composition alleviates inflammation.
