The American Cleaning Institute is engaged in an array of programs to remind consumers, the media and thought leaders about the important role cleaning products play in public health. During an issues briefing session, Petra Stovickova of Procter & Gamble reviewed ACI's Healthy Schools, Healthy People program which, in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control, is determined to improve hand hygiene and sanitation. Last year, the program held a webinar that was facilitated by Housekeeping Solutions and hosted by CleanLink. To further its message, an insert appeared in USA Today to let readers know how proper hand hygiene can reduce incidence of flu.
Kathryn Corbally of Sun Products walked attendees through ACI's communication efforts in 2012. For example, on the subject of single-load liquid laundry detergent, the Association has voiced its deep concerns over accidental ingestions and backed that up with messages about the safe and proper use of these products. These messages appeared on more than 200 websites, television and radio programs and print campaigns.
