Royal Ahold NV, the Dutch owner of the Stop & Shop supermarket chain, hired a Procter & Gamble manager to lead its global online expansion.
Hanneke Faber joins the retailer as chief commercial officer and will also be responsible for Ahold’s customer loyalty initiatives, according to the Amsterdam-based company. She will form part of a new seven-member executive committee also including Chief Executive Officer Dick Boer.
Faber “brings years of global experience in innovation, strategy, customer insights and leading international brands to Ahold,” the company said in a statement.
Most recently, Faber was global leader for P&G’s Pantene, Head & Shoulders and Herbal Essences hair care brands, according to her profile on LinkedIn Corp.’s website. She was the Dutch national diving champion between 1985 and 1991, according to LinkedIn.
Ahold is pushing sales growth online, adding pick-up points for commuters to grab ordered groceries in Europe and the U.S. and expanding internet retailer Bol.com. The company seeks to triple online sales to 1.5 billion euros ($2 billion) by 2016.
