Takasago International Corp. is moving its fragrance manufacturing operation that has been in Northvale since 1980 to larger quarters about 30 miles away in Harriman, N.Y., according to reports. The location employs about 80 people, and the move is expected to be completed in the first half of 2014.
The Japanese company founded in 1920, which creates and produces fragrances for consumer products, said it is moving because it needs more manufacturing space as a result of increased sales, said reports. The new Harriman site has 130,000 square feet, more than three times the 40,000 square feet Takasago has in Northvale.
Along with the employees in Northvale, the company has 340 employees at a flavor factory in Teterboro and its US headquarters in Rockleigh.
