Nail polish provided a helping hand to the US beauty industry in 2012, according to Kline & Company, Parsippany, NJ. Sales of nail color rose 17.4% last year, as the US cosmetics and toiletries market posted a 3.4% increase in sales, according to Cosmetics & Toiletries USA, a new report from Kline. Skin care products for men were also in demand last year, as category sales climbed more than 10%.
The report provides details on 26 major categories, including fragrances, hair care products, makeup products, oral care products, skin care products and other toiletries such as deodorants/antiperspirants, depilatories, waxes, and bleaches, personal cleansing products and shaving products. It features profiles for about 30 major companies, as well as an analysis of media spending for 2013.
