Sabinsa Exec Touts Green Chemistry

September 30, 2013

Anurag Pande, VP-scientific affairs, to address American Chemical Society.

Sabinsa Corporation's Vice President, Scientific Affairs Anurag Pande, PhD, will give a presentation on Green Cosmetics: The Future of Skincare to the Chemical Marketing & Economics Topical Group of the American Chemical Society, New York section on October 3, 2013 at the Yale Club in Manhattan.

"Today the personal care market is undergoing a tremendous change, with consumers looking towards effective, but at same time, safe and environmentally friendly, cosmeceuticals," Pande said. "Ayurveda, the traditional knowledge practiced in India for centuries, provides a solution to this problem. In this presentation I will be sharing Sabinsa's experience in the development of a natural cosmeceuticals product, market challenges and issues such as sustainability, and quality of raw materials."

"The personal care industry is seeking alternatives to conventional ingredients that simultaneously show enhanced renewability, cost-effectiveness and safety. Our members look forward to hearing Dr. Pande's insights on Sabinsa's novel approaches," said George Rodriguez, Chair of CM&E and Board member of ACS NY Section. Established in 1954, CM&E is a Topical Group of the American Chemical Society's New York Section. CM&E audience includes professionals from industry, investment, academia, government, media and supranational organizations.

Dr. Pande has been with Sabinsa's parent company, Sami Labs, since 2004 in a research capacity, and since 2008 until recently he was based in Sabinsa Japan's Tokyo office as Senior Technical Manager. Known for meticulous attention to detail in complementary health systems and discoveries in the application of unique plant ingredients, Dr. Pande was a key member of the team that helped Sabinsa receive Frost & Sullivan's 2008 North American Personal Care Ingredient Green Excellence Award. He holds a Ph.D. in Phytochemistry from RML Awadh University, and both a Masters degree in Science and a Bachelor's degree in Science from Lucknow University. Dr. Pande is based in Sabinsa's corporate headquarters in East Windsor, NJ.
