Tri-K Introduces Vegetable-Based Keratin Alternative

Tri-K Industries, Inc. rolled out a new vegetable-based alternative to animal keratin, Fision KeraVeg18.  According to the company, Fision KeraVeg18 is a cohesive solution containing wheat and soy amino acids, with additional pure amino acids (of vegetable fermentation origin) carefully selected to mimic the functional ratios in human hair amino acids. 

Comparison studies were conducted on Fision KeraVeg18 vs. hydrolyzed animal keratin.  The studies included amino acid comparison, hair strength, hair elasticity, wet & dry combing and a consumer study.  Based on this testing, Fision KeraVeg18 has properties comparable to, or in some cases better than, hydrolyzed animal keratin and can be used in any hair care formulations as a more natural product offering, said the company.

Fision KeraVeg18 is vegetable-derived, paraben-free and an alternative to animal based keratin.  This product increases hair strength and elasticity to prevent breakage in both Caucasian and African hair.  In addition, Fision KeraVeg18 helps protect hair from harsh salon processes, improves combability and reduces damage from excess force used against hair.  Lastly, Fision KeraVeg18 provides antioxidant protection and may help limit oxidative damage to the hair and scalp.   

In other news, TRI-K recently appointed Emile Henein to the position of business manager – actives, responsible for TRI-K’s key product lines on a global basis. He has many years of experience managing product portfolios at BASF as an industry manager and most recently, at Stepan as a global business manager.
