Evonik Corporation recently debuted three poster sessions highlighting developments in ingredient chemistry for state-of-the-art leave-on, rinse-off and active formulations for personal care products. These include new PEG-free W/O emulsifiers and O/W emulsifiers, liquid and waxy lipophilic emollients, and emulsion stabilizers.
To demonstrate this expertise, the “leave-on” presentation will focus on efficient emulsion stabilization and highlight two new ingredients:
AbilEM120,a new and unique PEG-free, silicone-based W/O emulsifier, is especially suitable for color foundations or other pigment containing emulsions like e.g. BB or CC creams. In these applications, Abil EM 120 is able to stabilize pigments effectively which leads to full color trueness. It can be used as well for white emulsion systems as serums, creams and lotions.
Meanwhile, Tego PBS 6 is a unique PEG-free O/W emulsifier for challenging fluid emulsions. Based on renewable raw materials, the polyglycerol ester provides excellent stabilization for all types of O/W lotions and sprays, especially low-viscous ones. It is especially suitable for sun care formulations containing a high load of water-soluble UV filters or other challenging ingredients like insect repellents.
The “rinse-off” presentation focused on ethnic hair care and review market trends, hair characteristics, and performance goals for rinse-off formulations.
The “actives” presentation highlighted two recent introductions now available for skin-active formulations in the US—Tego Cistus, a standardized extract from the plant Cistus incanusto protect skin from environmental stresses, and Phytosphingosine SLC, a novel sphingolipid derivative that helps to reduce the appearance of chronological aging and photo-aged skin.
