Henkel Acquires Hair Salon Brands

June 2, 2014

Alterna, SexyHair and Kenra in $370 million deal.

Henkel will buy three hair care companies based in the US for $370 million (270 million euros), with designs to boost its salon business, according to reports. The deal is via private equity firm TSG Consumer Partners and in cash.

The salon brands in the transaction—SexyHair, Alterna and Kenra—have annual sales of about 140 million euros, added the reports.

Henkel has had a good start financially so far in 2014, as previously reported in Happi.

Despite the continuing difficult market environment, Henkel had a good start to the fiscal year 2014. Q1 sales rose 4.3% to $5.5 billion. Net income increased 13.2% to $ 634.2 million.
