Microbead Replacements From Micro Powders

A range of natural alternatives to try in your formulas.

With environmental concerns growing over traditional polyethylene-based microbead scrub materials, formulators are searching for alternatives. Micro Powders' entire line of Synscrub is made from biodegradable synthetic wax. The new Synscrub products, Synscrub 20PC and Synscrub 50PC, are irregular in particle shape and produce a more aggressive exfoliating effect. These products are economical as well as environmentally-friendly replacements for microbeads, according to Micro Powders.
 
Naturescrub products are based on 100% natural waxes such as Carnauba and Montan wax. Their irregular particle shape produces a more efficient exfoliating effect in comparison to spherical particles. Both are available in a 20 mesh and 50 mesh particle size.

Micro Powders' Ecoscrub products are high molecular weight powders, and are produced from 100% naturally-derived polymers. They are designed for use as non-irritating scrub and exfoliating agents. Ecoscrubs provide the same high performance of microbeads but are based on corn derived polylactic acid and are biodegradable. Available in a wide selection of particle sizes that allow the formulator great flexibility in controlling the degree of abrasiveness and scrubbing action. Various colors are available, as well.
 
Finally, Naturebead products are spherical powders that utilize natural waxes such as rice bran wax, carnauba, jojoba and beeswax. They are designed for use as non-irritating exfoliating agents. Their spherical shape allows the particles to gently roll across the skin and give a massaging effect. Available in various colors.
