More Suitors for Arden?

June 13, 2014

Poor earnings report may bring more suitors.

LG Household & Health Care Ltd. is already said to be interested in bidding for Elizabeth Arden, which earlier this year hired Goldman Sachs Group Inc. to explore its options. But after a lousy quarter that saw it report a surprising loss, analysts say more suitors may emerge for the fragrance and cosmetics company.

Arden's brands include Red Door, 5th Avenue and Untold. Its skin care brands include Prevage, Flawless Future and Visible Difference.

That speculation helped Arden's stock rise 16% this week. Analysts have suggested that cosmetic brands sell for about three times revenue. Arden's 2013 sales were $855 million.
