Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors (ICMAD) will be hosting an exclusive webinar today (Jan. 6) on the new regulations from the California Air Resources Board (CARB), set to go into effect on March 2. The new rules apply to all products sold or supplied for use in the state of California, including cosmetic and personal care products, and failure to comply will result in significant fines. Learn the ins and outs of the new procedures as the ICMAD experts guide you through the process from start to finish beginning at 4pm EST.
In accordance with CARB’s new rules, all consumer and commercial product companies, including cosmetic and personal care product companies, whose names appear on product labels are required to complete a 2013 Consumer and Commercial Product Survey. The survey requires a report of detailed information for each product sold or supplied for use in 2013, including product formulas and unit sales. Though past surveys have been limited to products that emit Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs,) such as hairsprays and styling products, the new survey will increase the scope to include all products. Failure to file a report by March 2, 2015 may result in a stiff fine of as much as $10,000 per violation per day.
The webinar will be taught by ICMAD’s cosmetics industry experts, and will lead you through the requirements for completing the survey. David Edwards, supervisor at CARB, will be discussing how to complete the 2013 Consumer and Commercial Product Survey. David manages the Consumer Products Implementation Section and he has been with CARB since September 2008.
