Procter & Gamble executive Jorge Uribe, the Cincinnati-based company’s global productivity and organization transformation officer, will join the board of a Chicago-area firm that claims to be the world’s largest manufacturer of dextrose, a kind of sugar found in plants and fruits.
Uribe, who earned a master’s degree in business administration from Xavier University in 1981 and began working the same year for P&G, will become a member of the board of Ingredion Inc. on Wednesday. He is to retire from P&G on Tuesday.
Ingredion, which is based in Westchester, IL, has 11,000 employees, $5.7 billion in annual sales and customers in more than 100 countries. The company was known as Corn Products International until changing its name in 2012.
The firm converts corn, tapioca and rice into sweeteners and other ingredients used in everything from beer to chewing gum. In addition to being used in foods such as cereal, crackers and bread, the company manufactures ingredients used by the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries.
At P&G, whose brands include Tide detergent and Pampers diapers, Uribe leads organization design changes.
A native of Colombia, Uribe was previously P&G’s group president for Latin America. He also had stints at P&G ranging from vice president for Venezuela to general manager for Colombia and marketing manager for the United Arab Emirates. He began at P&G as a marketing assistant for export and special operations in Switzerland.
