More than 20 million cosmetic surgical and nonsurgical procedures were performed worldwide in 2014, according to statistics released by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), which has 2,700-plus board-certified aesthetic plastic surgeon members in 95 countries.
Botulinum Toxin remains the most popular cosmetic procedure overall for both men and women. For surgical procedures, breast augmentation is highest among women while eyelid surgery is prevalent among men.
The leading nonsurgical procedures performed were:
• Botulinum Toxin (4,830,911)
• Hyaluronic Acid (2,690,633)
• Hair Removal (1,277,581)
• Chemical Peel (493,043)
• Laser Skin Resurfacing (480,271)
The leading cosmetic surgical procedures performed in 2014 were:
• Eyelid Surgery – (1,427,451)
• Liposuction (1,372,901)
• Breast Augmentation - (1,348,197)
• Fat Grafting – (965,727)
• Rhinoplasty – (849,445)
Women accounted for 86.3% of the total cosmetic procedures, according to ISAPS data.
