Driven by religious preference for all things halal, sales of cosmetic halal products in Saudi Arabia are expected to grow at a CAGR of over 15% from 2015 to 2020, according a new report by TechSci Research. Halal cosmetics are free from animal blood, pork and pork products as well as from any alcoholic content.
According to researchers, growing demand from consumers who seek products made from animal-free ingredients is boosting demand for halal cosmetics among non-Muslim population as well. Inika, One Pure, FX Cosmetics, Clara International Beauty Group and Samina Pure Minerals Makeup Ltd are a few of the leading players operating in Saudi Arabia halal cosmetics market.
According to TechSci Research analysis, fragrances and skincare products accounted for a lion's share in Saudi Arabia halal cosmetics market last year. Color cosmetics, and other body care, hair care and baby care products are other major segments. Western, Central and Northern areas dominate the kingdom's halal cosmetics market owing to high female population in these regions.
"Saudi Arabia is an attractive market for halal cosmetics due to the presence of affluent customer base in the kingdom. In order to capture the growing demand for halal cosmetics in Saudi Arabia, major global players have expanded their presence in the kingdom through online marketing and sales of products," explained Karan Chechi, research director with TechSci Research, a research based global management consulting firm.
