More consumers are chemical-conscious when it comes to purchasing household cleaning products, according to a survey by a housewares marketing group. In its "Household Cleaning Trend Tracker 2014" study, Riedel interviewed a group of HomeTrend Influentials (defined as homeowners who like their homes to look up-to-date and who like to keep their fingers on the pulse of what is new for the home) and found that those consumers who always purchase household cleaning and/or laundry products that have fewer or no chemicals has been steadily rising over the past few years, from 38% in 2011 to 50%in 2013. The percent of HomeTrend Influentials who always purchase household cleaning and/or laundry products that contain no perfumes or dyes saw a similar increase, steadily rising from 35% in 2011 to 51% in 2013. That's an interesting finding, since so many new cleaning products are promoted for their novel scents.
Even more interesting, where are these consumers buying "chemical-free" cleaning products? Leave it to a marketing group to ask that question without a followup!
