Scrubbing Bubbles challenged comedian Marlon Wayans—known for his adult humor—to clean up his act for one afternoon and create a fresh and funny, family-friendly, stand-up performance. Wayans took up the challenge and performed his first-ever kid-appropriate comedy show last night to a packed room of children and parents at New York City's Gotham Comedy Club.
"As a dad, making kids laugh about life's 'ugh' moments – the stuff every parent gets after their children about – is one of my strong suits," said Wayans. "While it's different from my usual comedic routines, I do know what makes my kids laugh, and it was fun to share this kind of humor with others."
As one of 10 kids in his family, and now a father of two, Wayans found inspiration for the jokes from his own home life. His routine included kid-funny anecdotes about parenting during the teenage years, favorite childhood memories and schoolyard antics. He said it was an enjoyable and rewarding challenge to write jokes in a different style and deliver them to an audience he knows so well, yet never entertains in a formal way.
Videos featuring highlights from Wayans' routine will be shared on www.behindclosedbathroomdoors.com, according to SC Johnson.
