With its acquisition of Dollar Shave Club in the books, Unilever is beefing up its home care business. Today, the company announced an agreement to buy Blueair, a maker of indoor air purifying systmes for homes and businesses. The Stockholm-based company had 2015 sales of $106 million. A purchase price was not disclosed.
Unilever CEO Paul Polman said the purchase will complement its existing water purfication business.
Blueair was founded in 1996 by Bengt Rittri. According to the company, his mission was to start a clean air revolution by bringing people the world's best air purifiers. Today, Blueair sells into more than 60 countries and ranks among the largest makers of premium air purifiers in China, the US, Japan, South Korea and India.
