An outsider looks at MLMs

"Only people who participate in multi-level marketing networks as entrepreneurs stand the chance to become rich."

That's Forbes' contributor Panos Mourdoukoutas' recent evaluation of mult-level marketing organizations. See:

No kidding, Mr. Mourdoukoutas! You could say the same about a lot of jobs. Former Intel CEO Andy Grove famously proclaimed, "only the paranoid survive," and anyone who hopes to make the big, big money, must treat her or his career like an entrepreneur; i.e., put in the hours, search for improvements, keep building a customer base. Whether someone is laying bricks or applying foundation, truly hard work still gets rewarded in a lot of businesses.
