IFSCC past President Gavin Greenoak of the Australian Society of Cosmetic Chemists (ASCC) died on June 21, according to the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists. According to Robert McPherson, president, ASCC, Greenoak was an inspirational, highly active member of the ASCC, having served on Council as president and a number of ASCC committees in varying positions. He was president of the IFSCC in 2010.
"One of Gavin’s more recent successful contributions to the ASCC was to guide the Society to secure the hosting rights for the ASCS conference in 2015," noted McPherson. "Gavin’s dedication to the ASCC and the industry as a whole saw him loved and respected by everyone. He was described by many as a man generous with his time, a great mentor and an outstanding leader whilst at the same time having a great and unique sense of humor."
Other industry executives agreed.
"He was a man of integrity and dedication. Gavin was a businessman and scientist but also a poet and my friend," said IFSCC President Amy Wyatt. "I will treasure his writings and my memories of him forever. He will be missed. Love and prayers to his family and friends."
