The Madison Reed Color Bar in New York City is now permanent. The Color Bar's first incarnation—a temporary pop-up store— was so successful online hair color purveyor decided to open up a permanent 11 W. 18th Street in the Flatiron District.
The New York door is the firm’s second permanent shop, and it marks the start of larger expansion by the brand.
In June, Madison Reed opened a color bar adjacent to its company headquarters in San Francisco. Now, the company says it will open 20 to 25 new Color Bars in urban areas or surrounding suburbs over the next 18 to 24 months.
"Color Bars are our next frontier," said Amy Errett, Madison Reed CEO and co-founder. "We are already disrupting the at-home hair color industry, and we will keep innovating for those women who want to color at home. But there will always be women who want to have someone else do it. Now is the time for us to turn our attention to disrupting the salon channel, to operationally making it faster, more affordable and convenient. There is no reason in the world that a salon appointment should be three hours and $300. At Madison Reed Color Bars, that will not be what happens."
For $60, clients can get permanent color applied to their roots. For $35 and 35 minutes, clients can have an express root touch-up with the brand's new Root Reboot, a demi-permanent color service that lasts two weeks.
