Chicago-based Pressbox, a fast-growng on-deamnd dry cleaning and laundry business, has reportedly been acquired by Procter & Gamble.
Founded in 2013 by two University of Notre Dame graduates, the Pressbox model uses company lockers where customers can drop off clothing 24/7. Pressbox will turn around the clothing in about two business days, and will provide a text and email alert when the articles are ready for pick up (in a locker). Users can track and managertheir orders through an app.
Pressbox has 250 locker locations in the Chicago area, and another 250 in Washington, D.C. Philadelphia and Nashville.
Terms of the deal were not released.
P&G has been active in the laundry service sector, with Tide Dry Cleaners franchises and Tide Spin, P&G's own laundry service operation.
