Thick, Rich Shampoo

Deionized water
Sodium lauryl sulfate (2 moles- 26% active)
Cocamidopropyl betaine (35% active)
Cocamide MEA
SoftCAT SL-60 polymer (1% aq.)
Methocel 40-202 (5% aq.) (Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose)
UCON fluid 50-HB-660 (PPG-12-buteth-16)
Citric acid

Prepare a 1% SoftCAT SL-60 polymer by sprinkling into agitating, room temperature water. Allow to disperse completely before beginning to heat slowly, with mixing, to 60-65˚C. Let cool to room temperature before use. Solution should be crystal clear. Prepare a 5% solution of Methocel 40-202 by sprinkling into room temperature rapidly agitating water. Allow polymer to disperse completely. Adjust the pH to at least 8.5 using NaOH (10% aq.) to fully hydrate the polymer. In main beaker, combine sodium lauryl sulfate, cocamidopropyl betaine and cocamide MEA. Mix while heating to 60-65˚C until MEA is dissolved and surfactants are uniform. In separate beaker, combine water and solutions of SoftCAT SL-60 polymer and Methocel 40-202 cellulose ether. Mix until uniform. Add polymer solutions to surfactant portion with mixing. At 45˚C add UCON fluid 50-HB-660, preservatives and fragrance. Slowly mix and cool to room temperature. Adjust pH if necessary.
