BASF’s Care Creations business seeks a Technical Service Specialist who will act as the regional support for our skin and suncare portfolio for our regional as well as our global customers.
As the Technical Service Specialist for Sun and Skin care portfolio for Personal Care Industry, the candidate will provide technical assistance by closely monitoring the evaluation of BASF products at key accounts to maximize the business potential for BASF. The candidate will identify technical benefits of commercial and developmental BASF products in industry applications and promote their benefits, directly with the customer, with the objective of generating new business and/or maintaining existing business. The candidate should be capable of building relationships with technical counterparts at target accounts with the objective of identifying opportunities that allow for increased BASF participation in projects at target accounts. The incumbent will serve as an expert for skin and sun care applications and work closely with Technology, Sales and Marketing Teams within the Care Chemicals business.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Serves as the direct technical contact for regional customers, working globally to collect and distribute information on catalog products as well as customer specific project information.
- Provides technical expertise to regional customers and regional key account teams
- Translates customer needs to the technical team and assists in defining project scope
- Supports customer projects (concepts / product developments) internally, in close cooperation with R&D project leaders and marketing
- Identifies product / technical concepts trends, customer demands in the regional market, gives impact to the regional strategy, and proposes pertinent technical solutions in relation with skin and sun care portfolio.
- Identifies opportunities, projects and new initiatives with Sales, Marketing and Technology.
- Supports launches and post-launch technical needs.
- Supports, when needed, regional poster sessions or lectures in the frame of congresses, symposium
Qualifications:
- BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
- MS in science, chemistry, or related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience or BS in science, chemistry or related field with 10 years of experience in the skin and sun care industry is required.
- Scientific knowledge in the field of skin and sun cosmetic products and scientific claims is required.
- Travel up to 50% domestic
- Specific experience in direct customer interaction is preferred
- Extensive knowledge in development and analysis of skin and sun care products is required.
- Organization, coordination, with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities
- Project management
- Excellent Power point skills, good computer knowledge (at least Microsoft Office & email)
- Fluent in English
