Job Summary:
Develops, implements and manages the quality control systems designed to support fragrance production. Oversees the Quality Control labs in Branchburg, NJ and Canton, GA, which are responsible for the approval of all raw materials and finished products through visual inspection and physical/olfactive testing in accordance with established procedures and specifications.
EssentialResponsibilities and Functions:
- Supervises the QC lab supervisors in Branchburg, NJ and Canton, GA, ensuring proper staffing and training. Performs managerial responsibilities such as distribution of work, setting priorities, follow-up and expediting when necessary, conflict management, delegation and performance evaluation.
- Responsible for preparing annual operating budget and controlling costs to operate the QC operations.
- Coordinates all customer compliance audits and completes all Quality questionnaires in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for ensuring that procedures are followed and measurements are performed accurately and logged using the appropriate test methods and equipment, including GC,SG,RI and other available equipment/methods.
- Responsible for establishing tools within Agilex Systems to more efficiently prepare required documents (MSDS/COA/Spec Sheet), satisfy specific customer requirements and respond to internal and external requests for documentation in a timely manner.
- Responsible for execution of Customer Complaint Process: logging, investigation and development of corrective actions in a timely manner, communicating directly with customers as required.
- Works with Perfumery and Purchasing Depts. to evaluate and approve potential new raw material suppliers.
- Continuously update and improve quality systems and processes, including SOPs and applicable enterprise resource planning system functions.
- Responsible for updating and improving SOPs and standards to ensure continual improvements to quality system.
- Responsible for all QC testing and analytical equipment, ensuring proper working condition, maintaining/calibrating as required, preventing unintended use of nonconforming equipment, and verifying product quality when necessary.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working area and ensures that personnel adhere to safety practices, procedures, and regulations including use of safety glasses, gloves, etc., as required.
- Performs QC testing, as required
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4 yr. College degree preferred in chemistry or other Science discipline
- Experience working in a Quality role in the Fragrance industry required
- 10 years lab experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Strong computer skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to details and ability to follow-through
- Work as a team member, able to follow instruction and work without supervision
