Job Description:
- Plan and execute development of new surfactant-based products that meet property and performance specifications.
- Carry out experiments in lab using traditional bench top procedures and modern instrumentation. Collaborate with Commercial function.
- Conducts research, analysis, synthesis, and experimentation on substances, for product and process development and application. Analyzes organic and inorganic compounds to determine chemical and physical properties.
- Induces changes in composition of substances by introduction of heat, light, energy, and chemical catalysts.
- Conducts research on manufactured products to develop and improve products. Conducts necessary analyses, defined or new, to identify product composition.
- Conducts research into composition, structure, properties, relationships, and reactions of matter.
- Prepares standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests.
- Develops new products or processes which are extensions of existing products and/or processes. Investigates and implements new analytical/synthetic/process techniques as described in scientific literature.
- Evaluates, plans, and conducts studies to solve customer and/or production related problems.
- Solve technical issues with respect to performance and production of current products. Interact with Quality Control, Operations and Purchasing. Supports Customer Service.
- Provide technical support to Field Sales re. product application and troubleshooting. Evaluate competitive products.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Master's degree (M. S. in Chemistry) or equivalent; and three years related experience and/or training; or twelve years pertinent experience. 5+ years industrial experience in surfactants and organic synthesis.
- Experience with products used in HI&I, paint and coatings, agriculture, and preferably oil and gas.
- Up to 20% travel, domestic and international.
