Vertellus is currently seeking a Sales and Market Development Manager to be located remotely in the US. This role will report directly to the Director of Sales, Americas and will interface with the PM Business Director and PM Marketing Managers. In this role you will be responsible for working closely with customers to execute all facets of the PM business market development and sales plan. The Sales and Market Development Manager will be responsible for driving growth of the PM business, with a special emphasis on the Personal and Home Care sub-segment, which includes FreshStat™ , CPC, Naturechem® emollients, Castorwax® rheology modifiers, Crystal® oils and skin care active ingredients.
Specific focus of the role will be to implement the North American PM market development and sales plan, working with customers to communicate and implement key value propositions and developing new business based on knowledge of relevant markets. The scope of the role includes customer engagement, customer relationship development and networking, leading cross-functional project teams to deliver growth projects, and identifying new markets and products for the business
Responsibilities:
Build and maintain a healthy project pipeline in consumer and homecare products.
Manage a territory of Vertellus Personal Care accounts in the US, representing greater than 4 M$ in revenue.
Consistently deliver on monthly and quarterly AOP (Annual Operating Plan) targets of volume, revenue and profitability.
Develop and execute strategic account plans for major customers and promote Vertellus Performance Materials’ value propositions in your territory to develop new business.
Manage selected distributors in the territory.
On an on-going basis, identify growth areas for Performance Materials.
Perform “Voice Of Customer” activities to gather unmet needs at accounts.
Work closely with marketing to feed customer needs into the New Product introduction development process.
Work closely with customers to manage developmental projects from initial formulation development to product and ingredient registration to commercial launch.
Act as a liaison between the customer and Vertellus field marketing and technical support.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business or technical discipline, (major in Chemistry is preferred.)
5-10 years of sales experience in selling chemical specialties to the personal care, pharma, healthcare, coatings or adhesives markets
5+ years’ experience selling to the personal care / home care industry is mandatory
Experience in the eye-care / contact lens materials industry is a plus
Proven track record of developing sales plans and following up on the execution to achieve growth goals
Exceptional skills and willingness to uncover and develop new contacts, accounts and project opportunities
Strong sales negotiation skills
Ability to develop strong working relationships with external and internal customers
Ability to market/sell products at multiple levels within an organization and to multiple functions
Able to communicate effectively, both spoken and written.
Ready to travel extensively (50%)
Proactive use of CRM to facilitate team selling and organizational visibility to customers/opportunities.
Excellent organizational skills and analytical capabilities
Excellent networking skills and willingness to make “cold-calls”
Bias for action and results oriented
Must be a self-starter and able to operate with limited supervision
Excellent oral and written communication skills including formal presentation skills before both small and large groups.
Demonstrated skills in understanding customer needs.
Very good at interpersonal skills
