Inter'Actifs, the cosmetic division of Aceto Corp., is launching an active ingredient that functions like vitamin D and delivers similar benefits in lotions and gels. That's good news, considering 33% of the world's population is thought to be vitamin D deficient. WhitePeoD, a white peony flower extract that is rich in kaempferol glycoside, activates vitamin D receptors, stimulating occludin and claudin synthesis and improving the barrier function.
According to Inter'Actifs, the material helps reduce trans-epidermal water loss and is excellent addition to anti-aging and moisturizing formulas and those designed for sensitive skin. It is compliant with Chinese regulations, too.
"Vitamin D is very difficult to formulate in lotions and gels because it is unstable and immersed in the gel," said Cecile Nayl, founder, Inter'Actifs. "WhitePeoD is an innovative solution. It solves the problem of vitamin D deficiency and also improves the skin."
Also new from Inter'Actifs is Lafrin AM-alpha emulsifer, which is said to enable formulators to create lotions and sprays with fluid, light and non-sticky textures—exactly what Asian and Latin American consumers want. Lafrin AM-alpha enables consumers to apply additional active ingredients as part of their makeup routines. It can be combined with squalene and jojoba oil in lotions and low-viscosity sprayable emulsions. It too is compliant with Chinese regulations.
