Mibelle Biochemistry launches MossCellTec No. 1, a novel active ingredient based on biotechnologically produced moss cells. MossCellTec is an innovative technology for growing moss as a culture in the lab. MossCellTec No. 1 contributes to “cell nucleus health,” a novel anti-aging concept. The cell nucleus does not only contain DNA but is also involved in regulating important cellular processes. Efficient transport of molecules into and out of the cell nucleus is crucial for adapting to the ever-changing environment. In vitro studies have shown that MossCellTec No. 1 improves expression of cell nucleus health markers in aged cells and helps skin adapt to climatic changes. In a placebo controlled clinical study during the summer, MossCellTec No. 1 significantly improved skin hydration, barrier and homogeneity after just two weeks for a more resilient skin.
Mibelle Biochemistry (stand E30) is also launching KeraGuard, a hair care ingredient for protection and repair. It combines tara tannins derived from Caesalpinia spinose pods and an organic sunflower sprout extract. This unique combination proves to be a powerful antioxidant elixir which is perfect for hair care because tannins naturally bind to hair keratins. The antioxidant power of KeraGuard, which was measured using Electron Spin Resonance spectroscopy, is several fold higher than classical natural antioxidants such as green tea or resveratrol. The same technique was used to demonstrate the efficacy of KeraGuard to protect hair against UV irradiation-induced free radical formation, to protect the hair cuticle against heat damage and to even demonstrate a repair effect on bleached hair. Further experiments on dyed hair tresses showed prevention of color fading after washing as well as after washing and UV exposure. Furthermore, KeraGuard protects hair against pollution as it significantly reduced hair damage caused by UV irradiation and particulate matter even in a rinse off formulation, according to Mibelle Biochemistry.
